Sadly rain is quite common in the most magical place on earth. If you are traveling to Walt Disney World during the rainy season (May – October) you might want to consider picking a few of these items up to help you brave the quick downpours. Luckily the rain in Flordia only lasts for a short time throughout the day, but without proper equipment, you could turn a magical day into a cold and wet day.

1. Umbrella

I always like to carry an umbrella with me if there is rain in the forecast for the entire day. They add that extra layer of protection when used with ponchos. But they can be heavy in a backpack so I like to carry a mini umbrella like the one below.

2. Poncho

Ponchos are a must-have during the rainy season. Even though the forecast is calling for a sunny day, storm clouds like to show up unannounced. I always keep a poncho in my bag for this reason. I personally like reusable ponchos because they are environmentally friendly and don’t stick to my legs like the cheap plastic ones. They fold back up and are ready to use during the next rain storm.

3. Phone Waterproof Pouch

These are great for the rain and water rides as well. Throw your phone inside the pouch and your phone is safe from any kind of water.

4. Stroller Cover

If you have kiddos in your party and are planning on using a stroller, stroller covers are a must. Not only can your children use them to hide from the ride, it can also keep your stroller dry if the rain comes in while you are on a ride or at dinner. Nothing is worst than coming out of Haunted Manison, thinking you got lucky and missed the rain, only to realize your stroller didn’t. Safe yourself some time by picking up a stroller cover before your trip.

I have also seen guests use dark covers to throw over their strollers when they are parked. That way the plastic and seat isn’t burning hot when they come back.

5. Rain Backpack Cover

If you like me and the rain does not stop you, you may want to pick up a backpack cover. These are a great way to help protect your backpack and everything inside while your making your way through the rain to your next fastpass.

6. Shoe covers

Tennis shoes are the most worn shoe in Walt Disney World. But they aren’t very water friendly. Nothing is worse than wet tennis shoes and socks. I recently discovered these silicone shoe covers than you can slip over your shoe to protect it from the rain. These would be great to slip in your bag or stroller.
