Bright Suns! In my most recent trip to Walt Disney World, I was able to visit the planet of Batuu and experience Galaxies Edge. (Trust me it’s an experience) After leaving I was stunned on how amazing it was and made me want to share my top 10 things you must do in Galaxies Edge!

1. Ride Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run

While I visited Galaxies Edge I was able to ride the Millennium Falcon twice. The first time I rode I was an engineer and the second time I was a pilot. Obviously the pilot is much more intensive and active than the engineer position, but enjoyed the engineer position just as much. It allowed me to sit back and enjoy the ride more with less to do. The pilot is more intensive and makes you focus on what you’re doing and not the ride itself. None the less it is definitely worth riding and the queue is amazing!

2. Try to Outpost Mix Popcorn

The food on Galaxies Edge is a bit strange. But one the best foods to try and safest foods to try is the Outpost Mix Popcorn. You can find this popcorn at Kat Saka’s Late. It is $6.50 or one snack credit. (It is a great value snack credit) My mom and I personally really liked this popcorn because it has a mix of sweet and spicy. It was also extremely filling and was difficult to finish the end of the bag. I personally think it’s worth trying and very Instagram worthy!

3. Build a Droid or Lightsaber or BOTH

One of the best things I did on my last trip to Walt Disney World was building a droid in the droid depot. Even as an adult it was so much fun as a Star Wars fan. I truly do recommend this experience even though it is $100. You can also build a lightsaber in Galaxies Edge for $200. I did not do this experience because the price was so high but I have spoken to people that have. They said it was also just as amazing as building a droid. After seeing videos of the experience it looks extremely nostalgic. If you are a Star Wars fan I would recommend doing at least one of these experiences if you can afford it.

4. Talk to the Stormtroopers

When Disney announced their Galaxies Edge project they explained how it would function as a real world. This means there are live actors dressed as Star Wars characters walking around with the guests interacting with the guests. They are constantly Stormtroopers walking through the areas interrogating people looking for the rebel spy that is loose on the planet. The Stormtroopers are hilarious to talk and even as an adult I enjoyed it. If you have any children in your party who enjoy Stormtroopers or Star Wars they’re going to love talking to them or Kylo Ren who is sometimes with them.

5. Find Rey and Become Part of the Resistance

Meeting Rey is a lot like meeting the Stormtroopers in Galaxies Edge. Rey is free-roaming around the area and you can go up and talk to her. If you catch her on the Resistance side of Galaxies Edge, she will explain how to become part of the Resistance and ask if you would like to join. She will also explain to you that you greet everyone who is part of the resistance by saying Bright Suns! I thought this was a really cool experience and truly did make you feel like you had joined the Resistance.

6. Try a Drink in Olgas Cantina

I was lucky enough to score a reservation for the first night of my trip at Olgas Cantina. The Cantina has a really awesome atmosphere and a cute animatronic named Rex who is the DJ. There are a bunch of crazy themed drinks both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. I would recommend doing some research on the drinks before going because they are a bit strange.

7. Use the Disney Play App

The Disney Play App is something newer in Walt Disney World. It is an app that has ride themed games and challanges that you can play while you’re waiting in line. But what’s really cool is the Glaxies Edge section in the app. You can go around the land unlocking different things to help the resistance or to help the first order. It also creates a profile for you and reports on if you’re more resistance or more first order based on who you have helped more. It makes the land seem even more real and amazing.

8. Wear a Star Wars related shirt or clothing

I highly highly recommend wearing something Star Wars on the day or days you plan on going to Galaxies Edge. Any of the actors that are walking around the land will interact with you and talk to you about what you’re wearing. For example, I had a shirt on that had Princess Leia on it and when the stormtrooper walked by he interrogated me for having a rebel on my shirt. It was so fun and made me truly feel like I was part of the Resistance on the planet Batuu. It would be a blast for younger children in your party. There were a lot of children dressed as Rey or Kylo Ren and the cast members went crazy talking to them. I think this would be an amazing experience for the Star Wars loving children in your party and something they would never forget.

(Keep in mind that adults are not allowed to dress up in full costume the parks. You can wear Star Wars inspired outfits but nothing too crazy. I would recommend reading this article from Disney if you plan on dressing up to the extreme. https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2019/08/dressing-for-your-visit-to-star-wars-galaxys-edge/ )

9. Visit the Den of Antiquities

I thought the Den of Antiquities was so cool. Keep in mind you’re probably gonna have to wait 5 to 10 minutes on a busy day to get in to the shop because of fired hazard capacities. But once you’re inside the store it’s awesome. There is an amazing animatronic that seems so lifelike. It’s almost shocking to see such an amazing animatronic in a gift shop. The store reminded me of a Star Wars museum. Mandalorian helmets and mounts of different Star Wars monsters are on the walls, just like we hang deer mounts on the walls! There was even a stuffed Tauntaun, like the one who attacked Luke in episode five. This is also the store where you can buy realistic lightsabers from the movies. It’s definitely worth going inside and seeing everything.

10. Fully Embrace the Land and Enjoy Your Time on Batuu!

When galaxies edge opened so many people proclaimed it would make you forget that you were actually in an amusement park. After visiting, I agree with them at 110%. Walking into Galaxies Edge is like nothing you’ve seen before. I can’t begin to describe how amazing it was. So enjoy your time in Bateau, take lots of photos, try different foods and take in the atmosphere that Disney has created for you.

Hopefully this post will help you during your visit to Bantu! I loved it and I know you will too.

Have a Magical Day!
