How to Get a Boarding Pass for Rise of the Resistance!

What is a boarding pass?

A boarding pass is a lot like a fast pass. Once you get a boarding pass, you wait in a virtual queue and when your boarding group is called you have two hours to check-in and ride. Disney is doing this to keep people from having to wait in six and eight-hour lines.

How do I get a boarding pass?

Getting a boarding pass can be a little stressful. But now that Disney has changed a few of the rules it is slightly easier.

I would recommend:

⁃ Checking what time Hollywood Studios opens

⁃ Arrive at Hollywood studios around 45 minutes to an hour before opening. Since Rise of the Resistance is a really big deal right now, Disney has been letting guests in about an hour before the park opens.

⁃ As of right now, the Skyliner is not running till the parks open so do not rely on it as a form of transportation.

⁃ Make sure you know when the earliest bus is leaving your hotel if you are staying at a Disney resort. You can ask your front desk.

⁃ Try to get on the earliest bus to Hollywood Studios

⁃ If you drove to your Walt Disney World resort it may be worth your wild to drive to Hollywood studios and pay to park for the day. It just depends on how much you want to rely on the bus and how badly you want to ride the ride.

⁃ If the bus does not end up working out for you, you could also try to get a Lyft or Uber to the park. Just keep in mind that many other guests are also doing the same thing so there may not be as many Lyfts or Ubers at that time.

⁃ Once you are to the park find the shortest bag check line. Make sure to not get in line with someone who has a red flag that says earning my ears. There are constantly new employees at Walt Disney World and if you catch someone who is new they may make the line go slower. Also, remember that you can use both sides of the table at bag check.

⁃ Have your magic band or ticket ready to scan when you reach the ticket scanning area.

⁃ Make sure everyone who is going to ride is in the park. If their ticket has not been scanned, the app will not allow them to join a boarding group.

⁃ Have the My Disney Experience App downloaded with everyone who is going to ride on that account.

⁃ Right before the park opens you may want to restart your My Disney Experience App. That way it refreshes and knows to update itself. I ran into this problem when I got my boarding passes. It was park opening but the app did not update itself. I had to reset the app and then hurry to get a boarding pass.

⁃ Do not use the Wi-Fi provided by Disney. Everyone is going to be on it trying to get a boarding pass. I would recommend using your own cellular data.

Once you have your boarding pass:

⁃ Make sure that you have your push notifications turned on for the My Disney Experience app. It is going to send you a notification when your boarding pass has been called.

⁃ You can also click on your boarding pass to see which groups are being called right now. From what I noticed they are calling a new group every 5 to 7 minutes. Obviously, that could change but using that would help you get an estimate of when your boarding group will be called. For example, I was boarding group 70 and it was called around 11:30 AM and the park opened at 7 AM.

⁃ You can leave the park after receiving your boarding group number. Remember that after your group is called you have two hours to return to the park and ride the ride. Disney is taking this two-hour window pretty seriously so make sure that you are back.
