With yearly price increases, Walt Disney World is becoming more and more expensive to visit on your vacation. Pinterest, Youtube, and Facebook are covered in different tips and tricks to help you save money when visiting the most magical place on earth.

But many forget to talk about one of the most expensive things you will need at Disney World….. Water!

In Walt Disney World, a bottle of Dasani water now costs $3.50 per bottle and SmartWater is around $5.50! That price adds up quickly since the average adult needs to drink around 3 to 5 bottles a day. Even more in the hot summer heat of Flordia and the last thing you want is to be dehydrated on your vacation.

At that rate, on average a family of 4 could spend $50-$75 a day on water in Walt Disney World! That’s a crazy amount of money on water!

Another mistake I see many people doing is using their Disney Dining Plan Snack Credits on water. Whatever you do, DO NOT WASTE A SNACK CREDIT ON WATER!!!!! That is the easiest way to waste money in Walt Disney World and Disney knows that. Don’t fall for this trick. Use those credits on food, not water.

Luckily, there are a few solutions to this money-wasting problem.

Solution 1 (My personal favorite):

-Bring your own water bottle into the park

By bringing your own bottle, not only do you save money but you are also helping the environment. As we know plastic has become a very large problem, and by bringing your own bottle you would be cutting down on the amount of plastic waste created.

(But don’t worry too much about those bottles if you end up buying one in the park. Lucky enough Disney has an amazing recycling program, just drop the empty bottle in one of the many recycling bins around the park.)

Now you may be wondering where to get the water to fill your bottle.

Thankfully, Disney understands that it is hot in Flordia in the summer with temperatures that can reach 100 degrees Fahrenheit and more and they do not want to see any of their guests unhappy due to lack of water. Thanks to this and Federal Law, you can walk into any quick-service restaurant and ask for a cup of water for FREE!

Disney has even gone as far as to place ice water dispensers with cups beside them in many of their quick-service restaurants and Starbucks on property. I personally love these because I can fill up my bottle without having to get a cup or wait in line. Slowly more and more have been popping up on property. I’ve also noticed that some in Animal Kingdom have fruit infused in them. Yum!

If a quick-service does not have a dispenser, I will ask for a cup of water. This isn’t my favorite method as it creates the waste of the cup and I have to wait in line but sometimes it’s my only option.

You can also fill up your bottle at many of the water fountains within the park. These are usually located near the restrooms.

I personally carry a small metal Manna water bottle. It fits in the side pocket of my backpack and the metal keeps the water cold longer. You can pick these up from Amazon, Target or Walmart for around $10.

I have tried a small plastic bottle in the past but it sweats and doesn’t keep the water cold for long. I also choose to not carry a large bottle since they are heavier and my backpack is heavy enough. This bottle allows me to carry just enough water to sip on while I’m in line or waiting on a parade without weighing my backpack down. This does mean I end up having to get water more often but I don’t mind as it gives me an excuse to walk into one of the A/C buildings and cool off for a minute.

Another great option is the Brita water bottles that have a filter in them. These bottles filter the water as you drink. This is great for those who don’t like the taste of filtered city water.

Solution 2:

-Have water delivered to your resort room

Yes, it sounds crazy but you can have things shipped to your resort. Anything on Amazon Prime or any other online retailer can be shipped to your Walt Disney World Resort, including water. Just remember that there is a $5 fee for every package Disney receives and holds for you at the front desk.

Many local online grocery delivery services will deliver to the resorts on Walt Disney property. One that many Walt Disney World Guests use is Garden Grocer.

This is also a great way to have snacks or soda delivered to your room if you are flying in with limited luggage space. But remember that many of these services have fees or the prices are higher than average to cover costs.

If you plan on using this method you will need to address your package like this:

Your first and last name
c/o Your resort
Hold for guest arrival on: 00/00/00
Resort Address
City, State, Zip

I would also call your resort to confirm the info before hitting submit.

Solution 3:

-Bring water with you to your resort

This solution will only work for a select amount of people but is very simple. If you are driving to Walt Disney World and have space in your vehicle, pack a few cases of water for your vacation.

Disney also allows guests to bring coolers into the parks. Just remember that loose ice is no longer allowed through security and you will need to use ice packs. This is due to security needing to go through the ice during the security check. You can also ask for cups of ice within the park. Just remember you would need to dump that ice if you plan on park hopping.

Hopefully, you found this tip useful and will use it on your next trip to Disney World. My mom and I do this every time we visit and we have saved so much over the years.
